Inkscape: Omaha Fashion Week F/W '22

During the Fall/Winter season in 2022, I participated in the Emerging Designer showcase at Omaha Fashion Week. I presented my first ever physical collection inspired by the art medium of ink. This collection, Inkscape, won me the Emerging Designer Golden Shears award, and gave me the opportunity to showcase another collection this coming fall.

Inkscape Collection

I created my Inkscape collection during the summer after my sophomore year at Missouri State University. The collection consisted of 6 looks, all of which had a black and white color palette, rigid strapping, fluid silhouettes, and a streetwear aesthetic. The looks were paired with striking red makeup and chunky platforms. All looks are original designs and were patterned, prototyped, and constructed by me.

I was inspired by the art of ink with it's ability to be fluid and elegant, but at the same time be rigid and rough depending on how you lay it down on paper. The genre of Streetwear was the perfect fit for my inspiration, and the flowing motifs and silhouettes complimented the ridged asymmetry and bold nylon strapping.

Participating in Omaha Fashion Week was an amazing expierence and I wouldn't change it for the world. Even with all the late nights and frustrating fit issues along the way, everything was made worth it with the response and support from everyone on the OFW team.
